World Series champion retires after 14 MLB seasons: ‘I gave you my all’

MLB veteran Dexter Fowler announced his retirement from baseball Tuesday morning, ending a 14-year career that included a World Series ring and one All-Star selection.

Fowler made the announcement on social media, thanking fans and the teams he played for during his career.

"It's here. I'm hanging up my cleats," Fowler wrote. "From an 18-year-old draft pick in Colorado to a ‘vet’ in Anaheim – there are a few things I will never forget ... Getting THAT call to the big leagues in September 2008. Wow. My world was spinning. My first 'you've been traded to Houston' heart pounding call.

ROCKIES TEAM OWNER DICK MONFORT TAKES AIM AT PADRES’ FREE-AGENCY SPENDING: ‘I DON’T 100% AGREE WITH IT’

"The feeling of bliss while hearing the words 'All-Star.’ Never knew what it felt like to be that guy! Forever grateful. Soaking wet and freezing on the field with tears in my eyes after winning the World Series in Chicago. The comfort of calling St. Louis home and being a Red Bird. Today is one of those moments where you metaphorically step down from your throne with a standing ovation, tip of the cap, and the world stops spinning. I'm mostly proud to look back at my career knowing that I played the game the right way and did my best to make a positive impact beyond the win."

The center fielder played for five teams in his MLB career, with his last season in Anaheim with the Los Angeles Angels

Fowler suffered a torn ACL April 9, 2021, in his final Major League game.

SCOTT ROLEN CELEBRATES HALL OF FAME SELECTION IN HEARTWARMING MOMENT WITH FAMILY: ‘I’M IN’

"Denver, Houston, Chicago, St. Louis and Anaheim … My family, friends, teammates, and staff," Fowler’s statement continued. "Thank you for 14 years. I gave you my all."

Fowler is most famous for his 2016 World Series performance with the Cubs when he became the only player to hit a leadoff home run in a Game 7 of the Fall Classic.

The Cubs won the organization's first World Series since 1908, ending a 108-year drought.

Shortly after, Fowler signed with the Cardinals, spending four years in St. Louis before his final year with the Angels.

"They were super transparent with me [about] their budget," Fowler said of the Cubs, according to MLB.com. "I had a great talk with Theo [Epstein]. The Ricketts were great. The organization was first class. They called me and told me how thankful they were to have me, but basically I’d outpriced myself, which is not a bad thing.

"It’s part of a chapter in your book. You turn the page and try to start something else. I got the chance to be a Redbird and play for the Cardinals for four years, then the Angels. It was sad leaving, but you turn the page and move on – exactly like I’m doing with my career."

Fowler finished his career as a .259 hitter with an on-base percentage of .358. His 82 career triples are the most by any player since his debut with the Rockies in 2008.

FBI searched Biden's former private office in November after his team found classified documents

The FBI searched President Joe Biden's former think tank office in Washington in November after his team notified the National Archives that they found classified documents there, according to a Justice Department official and another source familiar with the matter.

FBI searched Penn Biden Center in mid-November, soon after classified docs discovered, sources say

FBI agents searched the Penn Biden Center offices in mid-November, sources confirmed to Fox News, after President Biden's personal attorneys discovered a handful of documents with classified markings there on Nov. 2. The documents were dated to Biden's time as vice president in the Obama administration.

The number of agents involved in the search is unclear, but the president's team was fully aware and gave their consent to the FBI action, sources familiar with the investigation into Biden's handling of classified materials said.

There was no search warrant involved, and it is unclear whether any additional documents were taken.

The FBI and Department of Justice declined to comment on the search, which was first reported by CBS News.

HOUSE OVERSIGHT CHAIRMAN COMER BELIEVES HUNTER BIDEN WAS ‘IN PROXIMITY’ TO PRESIDENT'S CLASSIFIED DOCS

BIDEN DOCS: WHITE HOUSE REQUESTED FBI SEARCH THAT UNCOVERED LATEST BATCH OF CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS

The Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement is a think tank in Washington, D.C., affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania. Biden used the 6th floor office space there between 2017 and 2019, during which time he was an honorary professor and received about $900,000 for giving roughly a dozen lectures and talks. He never taught a full semester's course, nor did he conduct any research or have any administrative responsibilities.

The classified documents found in Biden's old offices were one of several batches of such materials found that have created a scandal for the Biden White House. FBI agents also searched and seized classified records from Biden's home in Wilmington, Delaware, on Jan. 20, and the White House had announced the search the day after.

The FBI search of the Penn Biden Center was not previously disclosed by the White House

Somewhere between 25 and 30 documents with classified markings have now been recovered from Biden's possession and turned over to the National Archives and the Justice Department

BIDEN, TRUMP, PENCE UNDER SCRUTINY FOR CLASSIFIED RECORDS, POTENTIALLY COMPLICATING 2024 WHITE HOUSE BIDS

Like his predecessor Donald Trump, Biden is now under special counsel investigation for his retention of classified records.

The White House has repeatedly declined to comment on the contents of the classified records, as well as the levels of the classification, saying instead that the records "have been turned over to proper authorities and will be part of the ongoing investigation."

Lawmakers have pressed the Biden administration for more transparency, but have been met with a "stonewall," according to Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Comer sounds alarm on Biden's mishandling of classified documents: 'Nothing' he's done is 'normal'

House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., said the investigation into President Biden's alleged mishandling of classified information is of the "utmost importance" after it was revealed the FBI discovered notebooks in his Delaware home that may contain classified material. Comer joined "Fox & Friends First" Monday to discuss the discovery and the significance of the probe moving forward.

EXCLUSIVE: WHITE HOUSE SLAMS HOUSE GOP'S 'HYPOCRITICAL' INVESTIGATIONS INTO BIDEN'S RETENTION OF CLASSIFIED RECORDS

JAMES COMER: Nothing that Joe Biden's done with respect to mishandling these classified documents is normal. Take into consideration that he's also being investigated for influence peddling with our adversaries around the world, and it's even more concerning. Look, more information comes out every day where his son, especially, as well as his two brothers, have had shady business dealings with our adversaries around the world, and part of what they would do when they would make a pitch to these shady characters in these foreign countries is prove to them that they actually had direct access to their brother and that they had direct access to people at the highest levels of our federal government. So when we learned that Joe Biden had classified documents from all over the place and that Hunter Biden especially lived in his house where he had those classified documents, we became extra concerned, and that's why this it this investigation is of the utmost importance for the United States Congress as well as the American people.

Georgia man crashes stolen Atlanta police car on railroad tracks, officers rescue him from oncoming train

Atlanta police released daring video of officers rescuing a suspect from an oncoming train after he stole a police cruiser during a traffic stop, led police on a high-speed chase and overturned on railroad tracks.

The theft of the police car happened just after 2 a.m. Saturday while the officer was conducting a traffic stop, the Atlanta Police Department said.

As the officer spoke with the driver of the vehicle, the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Mickal Parker, jumped behind the wheel of the police car and sped away, according to authorities. Parker was not involved in the initial traffic stop.

The officer immediately alerted dispatch and a helicopter deployed from the air spotted the stolen vehicle.

The speeding suspect eventually drove onto train tracks off McDonough Boulevard, where the vehicle flipped over.

While the vehicle had come to a rest, police now had to race against an oncoming train that was heading straight for the vehicle.

"They just immediately went into rescue mode where they got to get this guy out of the car and away from that train," Atlanta Sgt. John Chaffee told FOX5 Atlanta.

Police released aerial and bodycam video of officers working with the Georgia State Patrol to pull the suspect from the vehicle just seconds before the train struck the patrol car.

Tyre Nichols death: 2 Memphis officers involved in stop joined department after it lowered hiring standards

Two of the five Memphis police officers fired and charged with fatally beating Tyre Nichols were hired after the department loosened its hiring requirements, highlighting concerns that police departments should not rush to fill open positions with people who might not be qualified.

Tadarrius Bean and Demetrius Haley both joined the force in 2020 as it was experiencing a major staffing crunch and had dropped a requirement that recruits have an associate's degree or 54 college credits, reports said.

Officers Desmond Mills, Jr., Emmitt Martin III and Justin Smith were hired before the department changed its requirement in 2018 to say recruits needed to have a full-time job for five years and would need to complete their associate's within four years, Action News 5 reported

"They’re desperate. They want police officers," Mike Alcazar, an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, told the New York Post of police departments loosening hiring requirements. "They’re going through it, they check off some boxes, saying, ‘OK, they’re good enough, get them on.'

TYRE NICHOLS: ARRAIGNMENT DATE SET FOR 5 EX-MEMPHIS POLICE OFFICERS CHARGED IN FATAL BEATING

"Police departments have to take the screening process of candidates to be police officers seriously and not rush to hire officers that might not be qualified," the retired NYPD detective added.

Nichols was pulled over Jan. 7 for "reckless driving" and allegedly attempted to run from officers.

"While attempting to take the suspect into custody, another confrontation occurred; however, the suspect was ultimately apprehended," MPD said. "Afterward the suspect complained of having shortness of breath, at which point an ambulance was called to the scene."

Bodycam and streetlamp-camera footage released Friday show a group of Memphis officers repeatedly beating Nichols as they work to restrain him.

TYRE NICHOLS: AL SHARPTON CONDEMNS VIOLENT PROTESTERS FOR ‘HELPING THE POLICE’ AFTER TIMES SQUARE ARRESTS

Nichols ultimately died three days later in a hospital.

Police leaders have spoken out against the incident following the release of the footage, including Fraternal Order of Police President Patrick Yoes.

"The event as described to us does not constitute legitimate police work or a traffic stop gone wrong," Yoes said in a statement last week.

"This is a criminal assault under the pretext of law," Yoes added. "The Memphis Police Department terminated the five officers who participated in this heinous attack. The district attorney and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have completed the investigation, arrested the former officers, and charged them with second-degree murder."

The five officers are each facing counts of second-degree murder; aggravated assault, act in concert; two counts of aggravated kidnapping; two counts of official misconduct; and official oppression.

TYRE NICHOLS DEATH: LIBERALS BLAME RACISM FOR MEMPHIS MAN'S BRUTAL BEATING DESPITE OFFICERS BEING BLACK

Although Bean and Haley were hired in August 2020, the others joined the force before the reforms, according to NBC. Martin and Smith were hired in March 2018, and Mills was hired in March 2017, the outlet reported.

The department has been facing staffing issues in recent years, losing 184 officers in 2021 to retirement and resignations, and reported a 500-officer deficit in January of last year, Fox 13 previously reported.

To bolster recruiting efforts, the department announced signing bonuses of $15,000 to new recruits, a $5,000 referral bonus for officers and a retention bonus of up to 9% for five years, Action News 5 reported last year.

The department also again lowered its hiring standards, doing away with a timed physical ability test in favor of an untimed test that serves as an assessment instead of a pass or fail test, Fox 13 reported. It also again lowered its college education requirements from 54 college credit hours to 24.

TYRE NICHOLS VIDEO: MEMPHIS AUTHORITIES RELEASE FOOTAGE FROM DEADLY TRAFFIC STOP

"I don’t think it’s lowering standards. It’s just making adjustments to accommodate the current generation" Memphis Police Association President Lt. Essica Cage told Fox 13 at the time.

Lowering hiring standards at police departments has become increasingly more common since 2020, when Black Lives Matter and activists called for police departments nationwide to be defunded following the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. The anti-police sentiment spurred cops from coast to coast to resign en masse or retire, while recruiting efforts have stalled for many departments as potential hires look to less dangerous and controversial career paths.

In addition to Alcazar, other former and current officers have spoken out against lowering hiring standards for police departments, advising the various forces considering such plans to carefully weigh the decision.

"It goes much deeper than just college. We’re talking about lowering standards for previous criminal conduct for previous drug use. These things need be looked at very, very carefully," Fraternal Order of Police Vice President Joe Gamaldi told News Nation Now in March.

Chuck Wexler, the executive director of the Police Executive Research Forum, said last year that being a police officer has "become much more demanding, complicated, sophisticated," and that "you need to hire the best and the brightest."

TYRE NICHOLS DEATH: MEMPHIS POLICE 'PERMANENTLY DEACTIVATE' SCORPION UNIT

Departments across the country have made changes amid staffing issues. The Chicago police department announced last year that it was waiving its 60 college credit hour requirement in favor of three years of experience in certain career fields to entice more recruits. The New Orleans Police Department also overhauled its hiring process last year, as the city was ravaged by a sky-high homicide rate not seen in decades, to include civilians and people who have used marijuana in the last year.

Other cities grappling with staffing shortages, such as Seattle, have resisted loosening hiring requirements, with Police Chief Adrian Diaz saying last year that the force "won’t hire just anyone" in order to fill positions.

"Despite our current staffing crisis, this is not a numbers game. Our mission is simply to help people, so we will hire only the most compassionate, dedicated, and qualified employees," he said at the time.

The five former Memphis police officers are slated to appear for a bond arraignment on Feb. 17, according to court documents.

Memphis police did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on its recent changes to hiring requirements.

Dem state senator blasted as a 'groomer,' 'depraved' for boasting support of drag queen event for minors

A Democratic state senator was blasted as a "groomer" and "depraved" for boasting about supporting a drag queen event for minors.

Democratic Pennsylvania State Sen. Steve Santarsiero on Thursday posted on Twitter a letter he sent to all state senators in response to proposed legislation that seeks to ban drag shows on public property or in areas seen by minors.

Santarsiero began by saying that he disagrees with the proposed anti-drag show legislation and then proceeded to say that he takes particular exception to "the distorted characterization" of a drag queen event that he sponsored. The event occurred at a Planned Parenthood-sponsored youth program called the "Rainbow Room," which is located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

"I take particular exception to his distorted characterization of the Rainbow Room’s Queer Prom, a dance specifically arranged for LGBTQ+ youth in Bucks County."

DEMOCRATIC STATE SENATOR BOASTS SUPPORT OF DRAG QUEEN EVENT FOR MINORS WHICH OFFERED LUBE, CONDOMS

"The Rainbow Room, which Planned Parenthood established over 20 years ago to be a safe place for LGTQ+ youth to come together and build self-esteem, first held the prom in February 2020."

"So, having an organization like the Rainbow Room and an event like the Queer Prom can very literally save the lives of kids who otherwise experience feelings of depression and isolation," I can share from personal experience that Ronni and I are deeply indebted to the Rainbow Room for how it helped our son on the road to becoming the confident young man that he is."

The post was met with widespread backlash.

"You are the most depraved Senator I have met. You sponsored a Drag queen show for 13 year old and gift bag that contains condoms, planned parenthood???? You are a pathetic individual to actually sponsor that! Unless this is a lie, I will make sure other minority voters see this," one user said.

"Resign!!!," another user said

"The issue isn't whether to support LGBTQ youth. We all want them supported. We also want them kept safe, we don't want them exposed to grossly inappropriate things for their ages, and we don't want them reduced to nothing but their sexuality," one user said.

"I am gay & a former gay youth, & I was horrified to see a video of a Rainbow Room director/ consultant engaging in vicious racist attacks on all white people. White LGB youth deserve a safe space where they are not subject to a hostile environment. You made a terrible mistake," one user said.

Fox News Digital reached out to Santarsiero for a comment, but he has not yet responded.

The queer prom event Santarsiero sponsored featured lube, condoms, and a drag queen show for minors, Libs of TikTok reported. It was open to minors starting at age 14 and offered goodie bags of "Condoms, lube, dental dams, latex dam[s]."

Florida man who allegedly beat shark on beach should be charged, according to wildlife commission

Florida wildlife officials are recommending charges against a man accused of dragging a shark around a beach after beating it with a hammer in December.

According to a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission report obtained by Fox News Digital, the agency is recommending that two charges be filed against the 33-year-old. Those charges include harvesting or possessing a prohibited species and catching a prohibited species and not immediately releasing it without harm.

A FWC spokesman confirmed the recommendation Thursday, according to News 6.

It will be up to the Brevard County State Attorney's Office to decide whether to file formal charges against the man.

A spokesperson from that office told Fox 35 Orlando Thursday it had either not yet received the report or it was still in the transfer process. Once received, it would then be reviewed by prosecutors.

The man has not been arrested, and charges have not been filed against him.

He is accused of dragging around what appears to be a lifeless shark at Bicentennial Beach Park Dec. 20. The incident was captured on video.

"Two (2) males were observed catching a shark while shore fishing, bringing the shark to shore, hitting the shark over the head with a hammer, and then dragging the shark back into the water and releasing it," the Indian Harbour Beach Police Department said in a Facebook post last month.

VIDEO SHOWS MAN WHO ALLEGEDLY BEAT SHARK WITH A HAMMER, DRAGGED IT ACROSS FLORIDA BEACH

Witnesses said the man was seen bludgeoning the shark with a hammer. The outlet said the shark was believed to be a lemon shark, a protected species in Florida.

According to the FWC report, an investigator responded to the beach and interviewed a man who matched the descriptions witnesses provided.

That investigator was unable to find the shark due to the tide after the man admitted to deputies that he struck the shark. It is not known if the shark survived.

Lemon sharks are among 28 protected sharks in Florida. There are also rules depending on where people fish.

Paul Pelosi video shows hammer attack after police arrive

A California court on Friday released surveillance and bodycam video of the October 2022 attack on Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, at their San Francisco home.

The San Francisco County Superior Court made the footage public after Judge Stephen Murphy denied a request two days earlier by prosecutors to keep it secret.

The Oct. 28, 2022, attack sent Paul Pelosi, 82, to the hospital for emergency surgery on a skull fracture.

One portion of the footage shows police knocking on the door of Pelosi's home, before the door opens to reveal Paul Pelosi and suspect David DePape.

PAUL PELOSI ATTACK VIDEO ORDERED TO BE RELEASED BY CALIFORNIA JUDGE

"What's going on man?" an officer asks.

"Everything is good," DePape responds as he and Pelosi each have one hand on a hammer, with DePape also placing a hand on Pelosi's wrist. Pelosi appears to be holding an object in his other hand.

"Drop the hammer!" the officer then says.

"Umm, nope," DePape then responds, before wrestling the hammer away from Pelosi and swinging it at him.

"Oh, s---!" one of the officers says as police burst into the home and apprehend DePape.

Another clip, taken in black and white, showed DePape approaching the Pelosis' San Francisco house and dropping multiple bags onto the ground. He then rummaged through the bags before he apparently pulled a hammer out of his clothing and started swinging at a glass door, eventually entering the home.

DePape, 42, has pleaded not guilty to all state charges in the case, including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse. He also has pleaded not guilty to federal charges of assaulting an immediate family member of a federal official and attempted kidnapping of a federal officer for the alleged home invasion.

FEDERAL INDICTMENT REVEALS WHAT PAUL PELOSI ATTACK SUSPECT WAS WEARING WHEN POLICE ARRIVED

Rep. Nancy Pelosi was in Washington, D.C., at the time of the incident.

Fox News was among the news organizations pushing for the video’s release.

When San Francisco police arrived at the home around 2:30 a.m., they found Pelosi in his pajamas and the intruder wearing shorts, sneakers and a sweatshirt, according to court filings.

The encounter lasted just 15 seconds from when Pelosi opened the door for officers to when the hammer attack took place, according to a filing.

"The two officers opened the door to see the foyer of the Pelosi Residence, Mr. Pelosi, wearing a long-sleeved shirt, DEPAPE in shorts, running shoes and a sweatshirt, and DEPAPE and Mr. Pelosi jointly gripping a hammer," an indictment read.

The attack caused Pelosi to suffer a skull fracture and other injuries, according to authorities.

Police called an ambulance to treat Pelosi, who was bleeding from a head wound.

Investigators also said that DePape researched homes of Pelosi and two other targets on an alleged hit list two days before breaking into the House Speaker’s $8 million hilltop Pacific Heights mansion.

Officers from the U.S. Capitol Police also had live video surveillance outside the Pelosi's San Francisco residence, but weren't watching it when DePape allegedly attacked Paul Pelosi, sources told Fox News shortly after the incident.

The officers were monitoring a live-feed of many cameras, which include surveillance of the capitol complex, but also monitor some points away from the capitol, which include the Pelosi residence.

According to sources, an officer was monitoring the feeds and saw police lights on a dark street outside the Pelosi's residence. If the officers were watching the feed monitoring in real-time, the break-in would have been seen.

DOJ seizes Hive ransomware gang website

The FBI has seized the website of a prolific ransomware gang that has heavily targeted hospitals and other health care providers.

The website of the group, known as Hive, was offline Thursday. It was not immediately clear how the seizure, disclosed in a takedown notice on the gang’s dark website, will affect its long-term operations. The Justice Department scheduled a news conference to discuss the action.

A U.S. government advisory last year said Hive ransomware actors victimized over 1,300 companies worldwide from June 2021 through last November, receiving approximately $100 million in ransom payments. Criminals using the ransomware targeted a wide range of businesses and critical infrastructure sectors, including government facilities, critical manufacturing and "especially" health care and public health.

CYBER ATTACK ON MAJOR HOSPITAL SYSTEM COULD AFFECT 20 MILLION AMERICANS

The seizure is the latest effort by the Justice Department to tackle the scourge of ransomware, in which hackers lock up or encrypt victims computer networks, steal data and demand large sums.

The threat captured the attention of the highest levels of the Biden administration two years ago after a series of high-profile attacks that threatened critical infrastructure and global industry. In May 2021, for instance, hackers targeted the nation’s largest fuel pipeline, causing the operators to briefly shut it down and make a multimillion-dollar ransom payment that the U.S. government largely recovered.

Federal officials have used a variety of tools to try to combat the problem, including conventional law enforcement measures such as arrests and prosecutions. A suspected Ukrainian hacker was arrested in October 2021 after traveling to Poland and charged in connection with a string of costly ransomware attacks, including one that snarled businesses around the globe the prior Fourth of July weekend.

Robert Redford wore two pairs of undies to ‘protect himself' from Barbra Streisand in ‘The Way We Were’: book

Safety came first for Robert Redford on the set of his sweeping romantic drama.

The actor allegedly wore "two athletic supporters" to film his love scene with Barbra Streisand for their 1973 film "The Way We Were."

The claim was made by author Robert Hofler in his book published on Jan. 24 titled "The Way They Were: How Epic Battles and Bruised Egos Brought a Classic Hollywood Love Story to the Screen."

The book, timed to the 50th anniversary of the film’s release, explores how the instant classic was "a nightmare to make, with a difficult cast, a jumbled plot about mismatched partners, countless delays and rewrites, on-set tensions between everyone involved, difficulties at every step of the production, the skyrocketing demands of Ms. Streisand, a leading man who happily ditched premieres on both coasts and mixed critical reviews."

KING CHARLES HAD A CRUSH ON ‘PINUP’ BARBRA STREISAND, ‘DYNASTY’ STAR JOAN COLLINS, ROYAL AUTHOR CLAIMS

Reps for Redford, 86, and Streisand, 80, did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment. The U.K.'s DailyMail published the original excerpt on Wednesday. Fox News Digital obtained a copy of the book.

Hofler claimed that Redford was reluctant to work alongside the "Funny Girl" star, and when it was time to get in bed with Streisand, the Hollywood heartthrob did not take any chances. He allegedly doubled up on the jock straps "to protect himself in more ways than one" while Streisand "chose to don a bikini."

"Redford was a happily married family man with four children when he signed to do ‘The Way We Were,’" Hofler explained in his book.

"It was a pretty G-rated scene," assistant director Michael Britton shared.

Producer Ray Stark cautioned that he did not want "a heavily shadowed nude scene." However, the film was going to be rated PG, and he had already deleted a "f---" from the script to avoid "a dreaded R rating." This would ensure "the largest audience possible" at the box office.

The intimate scene was supposed to be a simple one to film in a closed set. However, Britton said, "there were a lot of takes." At one point, Redford looked at director Sydney Pollack, implying he had enough. Redford would later joke to a Newsweek reporter that the only thing he wore on set for the scene was "Aramis," the Estée Lauder fragrance for men.

"Redford tended to do his best in the first take, maybe the second, rarely the third, never the fourth," Hofler wrote. "From there, he tended to lose energy and concentration."

Eventually Redford "lost patience and Pollack had no choice but to inform his female star, ‘I think we’ve got it.’" Editor John Burnett was said to be "amazed at how much footage he had to work with to put together the simple lovemaking scene."

ROBERT REDFORD DID NOT WANT TO STAR ALONGSIDE BARBRA STREISAND IN 'THE WAY WE WERE': BOOK

However, there may have been another reason why Redford was wary about the love scene. The book alleged Streisand was "infatuated" and "mesmerized" with her co-star who was playing a "Ken doll" as he described.

"Barbra Streisand was a star who reportedly had affairs with many of her leading men," claimed an unnamed member from the film set.

During their second love scene, Redford allegedly refused to say the line, "It will be better this time," because he felt people would assume he was not a good lover.

"Redford was never bad in bad" so his character couldn’t be either, Hofler noted.

BARBRA STREISAND RECALLS THE ONLY TIME SHE EVER SMOKED WEED

The book claimed Redford had concerns about his leading lady from the start. Redford told Pollack he did not believe Streisand was "a serious actress" because she "had never been tested."

"Her reputation is as a very controlling person," said Redford, as quoted in the book. "She will direct herself. It’ll never work… She’s not going to sing, is she? I don’t want her to sing in the middle of the movie."

Streisand went on to sing the film’s iconic theme song, "The Way We Were."

It took eight months of "incessant wooing" from Pollack for Redford to finally sign on. Ryan O’Neal was at one point another name being considered for the film.

JAMES BROLIN SHARES HIS SECRET TO A SUCCESSFUL 24-YEAR MARRIAGE WITH BARBRA STREISAND: 'BE A NEGOTIATOR'

On set, it was easy to see that Streisand "had a massive crush on Bob," but the two could not be more different.

"Barbra wanted precision; Redford, spontaneity," said Pollack. "Barbra likes lengthy rehearsals and multiple takes. Redford is better in his early takes. After that, he just gets bored."

Still, there was no denying that for their first reading, it was like a "lightning bolt" went off in the room.

There was one thing the stars had in common. The book claimed they both preferred having the left side of their faces to be on camera. Cinematographer Harry Stradling Jr. claimed that during scenes shot in New York City, they erected canopies everywhere to block the light from hitting Streisand’s face because her nose looked "terrible." As for Redford, he did not like showing the three moles on the right side of his face.

LEA MICHELE RECALLS BEING TOLD TO GET A NOSE JOB AND THAT SHE 'WASN'T PRETTY ENOUGH FOR FILM AND TELEVISION'

The film became a hit and a sequel was even discussed. However, Redford shot down the possibility. Redford said he never had any interest in making a second part "but Barbra did."

Josh Hawley suggests more scrutiny for Obama, Bush over classified documents: 'Do we need to ask?'

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., suggested that greater scrutiny of former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush may be necessary regarding their handling of classified documents Wednesday.

President Biden, former President Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence have all been found to have misplaced classified documents in recent months, raising questions as to how carefully top-level U.S. officials handle America's secrets. Hawley voiced those concerns to Fox News on Wednesday, saying there should be more scrutiny on America's former leaders.

"Do we need to ask President Obama, former President Bush? I mean, you know, maybe so," Hawley said in response to a question on the matter.

Hawley's office clarified that he was not suggesting a formal inquiry into Obama or Bush was necessary at this time.

Trump has faced federal investigations into his mishandling of classified documents for months, and Biden is now facing a special counsel investigation. Pence joined the trend Tuesday, announcing to Congress that he had discovered classified documents inside his Carmel, Indiana home earlier this month.

ERIC SWALWELL BLAMES KEVIN MCCARTHY FOR RAPE, DEATH THREATS AGAINST HIS FAMILY: THEY ‘PARROT’ HIS RHETORIC

"I don't know any of the details about Vice President Pence other than what I've read that y'all have reported," Hawley told Fox. "So I don't know any of the specifics there. But obviously, we're going to want to figure out what he had and why he had it."

Hawley went on to point out that Trump is the only executive official to have faced an FBI raid, arguing that fact showed bias against Trump from the federal government.

"I noticed that nobody else seems to have had their home raided by the FBI. No one else has been treated as if they're a criminal. There's a reason for that. It's because Trump is a political opponent that these other folks were not," Hawley said.

FLASHBACK: PENCE WENT AFTER TRUMP OVER CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS BEFORE FINDING STASH IN HIS OWN HOUSE

The FBI raid recovered a slew of documents this summer after Trump declined to turn them over to the National Archives. Meanwhile, Biden's lawyers uncovered three stashes of classified documents in Biden's Wilmington, Delaware home, as well as the Penn Biden Center, think tank in Washington. Federal investigators later discovered a fourth stash of Biden documents, also in his Wilmington home.

Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel to investigate the matter earlier in January, tapping former U.S. Attorney Robert Hur.

Biden and Pence both say they immediately contacted federal authorities to return the documents. The DOJ has not announced an investigation into Pence as of Wednesday morning.

Mark Hamill defends 'liking' JK Rowling tweet after liberals erupt: 'Twitter is no place for nuance'

"Star Wars" actor Mark Hamill recently responded to the Twitter furor generated by him posting a "like" on a snarky J.K. Rowling tweet, clarifying that he was merely supporting an individual "speaking truth to power."

He also blasted Twitter for the acerbic reaction he received upon appearing supportive of Rowling, the "Harry Potter" creator vilified by many LGBTQ activists as "transphobic." Hamill lamented that the platform "is no place for nuance."

The actor behind Luke Skywalker also reaffirmed his commitment to social justice for all people, regardless of their gender identity.

HARRY POTTER 'BOOK ARTIST' WHO REMOVES JK ROWLING'S NAME IS WITHIN HIS RIGHTS: LEGAL EXPERTS

The online tumult began earlier this week with Rowling posting a snarky response to U.K. journalist and trans woman India Willloughby tweeting how she is "more of a woman than JK Rowling will ever be."

The post seemed intent on provoking Rowling, who has endured the scorn of trans community defenders for declaring her belief in sex being a biological reality and not a social construct.

Rowling’s statements on the issue, including her complaints that the concept of biological womanhood is threatened by inclusive language, have resulted in calls for fans to boycott her fantasy series.

An unbowed Rowling quote-tweeted Willoughby’s post Tuesday, commenting, "Citation needed" – a snarky reply suggesting Willoughby is lacking the evidence for such a bold claim.

HARRY POTTER BOOKS STRIPPED OF JK ROWLING'S NAME ARE THEN RESOLD BY 'BOOKBINDER ARTIST'

While zealous Twitter users combed through who responded to and/or liked Rowling’s cheeky response, they found that the "Star Wars" actor had "liked" it.

Many disgruntled users started lobbing accusations that Hamill had "liked" a "transphobic" tweet, or that he was supportive of "JKR’s transphobic hate crusade."

Hamill responded to the allegations on Tuesday, tweeting, "What I ‘liked’ about this exchange was someone speaking their truth to power. Twitter is, unfortunately, no place for nuance."

He then tried to placate the angry trans community activists, adding, "It's imperative I make this abundantly clear: I support human rights for EVERYONE, regardless of their gender identity, PERIOD."

Still, some users were not satisfied with the actor’s clarification.

Progressive activist and former Governor Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., aide Lindsey Boylan claimed it wasn’t good enough. She tweeted, "Am I the only one who thinks this is not a great response? Speaking truth to power is so important. I don’t think that’s what JK Rowling is doing. I think she’s engaging in a toxic dialogue that she herself began. She is not powerless. She is not without resources and contacts."

Liberal user Dan Arel wrote, "As a fan, I have to ask how this is speaking truth to power? She’s just being transphobic, again. What truth is Rowling speaking?"

Liberal journalist Sonia Poulton added, "A washed up TV presenter tweeting his psychological issues to an author? You call that truth to power? You need to get out more."

Though some, like original tweeter India Willoughby, accepted his apology. Willoughby wrote, "Lots of love Mark. Agree! Peace!"

Prominent transgender activist Charlotte Clymer absolved the actor, tweeting, "Just catching up. It’s s***** that people got on you for this. Thanks for always supporting trans rights, Mark."

Virginia teacher shot by 6-year-old student to sue school district, alleging administrators were warned of gun

The Virginia teacher who was shot by a six-year-old student during class plans to sue the school district, according to the teacher's attorney.

Diane Toscano, a lawyer for Abigail Zwerner, said Wednesday that on the day of the shooting, concerned teachers and employees warned administrators three times that the boy had a gun on him and was threatening other students, "but the administration could not be bothered."

The boy shot 25-year-old Zwerner with a handgun owned by his mother as she taught class at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News on Jan. 6.

"Our heart goes out to our son’s teacher and we pray for her healing in the aftermath of such an unimaginable tragedy as she selflessly served our son and the children in the school," the child’s family said Jan. 19 in a statement issued by their attorney.

VIRGINIA SCHOOL DOWNPLAYED WARNINGS FROM TEACHER BEFORE SHE WAS SHOT BY 6-YEAR-OLD BOY

The statement said the weapon used in the shooting, which police said was a 9-millimeter Taurus handgun, had been "secured."

The family also said in its statement that the boy has an "acute disability" and was under a care plan "that included his mother or father attending school with him and accompanying him to class every day." The week of the shooting was the first when a parent was not in class with him, the family said.

Police Chief Steve Drew has repeatedly characterized the shooting as "intentional," saying the boy aimed at Zwerner and fired one round, striking her in the hand and chest. Zwerner was hospitalized for nearly two weeks but is now recovering at home, a hospital spokesperson said.

The Newport News School Board will hold a special meeting Wednesday evening to vote on a separation agreement and severance package for Superintendent George Parker III, according to a posted agenda. The board is also scheduled to vote on a new interim superintendent.

Native San Franciscan describes 'dystopia' on trip to downtown bar: 'I felt scared'

A native San Franciscan documented the "dystopia" she witnessed while en route to a downtown bar over the weekend in a tweet that went viral.

"Last night I went to a bar in downtown San Francisco," Michelle Tandler wrote on Sunday. "It looked like a dystopia. I saw hundreds of people folded over (likely high on Fentanyl), or sitting on the sidewalks smoking. Almost every person looked homeless. I felt scared to park and walk two blocks."

SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA MOTHER OF FENTANYL USER WARNS CITY IS ENABLING SON'S DRUG USE

Tandler continued detailing her journey, saying the scenes in nearby neighborhoods were just as upsetting.

"I took a drive down Mission street and saw tent after tent, person after person sleeping on the sidewalk," she wrote. "The Tenderloin & SOMA were the same. FiDi didn't have any tents (probably because the high-end property managers send in power washers at night). It was beyond sad."

Tandler later described how she was afraid she'd be "attacked" by homeless men on the street. She also described streets littered with boarded-up windows and vendors selling stolen goods. She said she felt much safer when she was in New York.

"Most women my age don't drive downtown," she tweeted. "Certainly not alone. But I don't want to let fear rule my life. When in New York I walk alone in Harlem, Queens, Brooklyn. And I don't feel scared. In San Francisco, I do."

"It looks like a developing nation, not the United States," wrote Tandler, who identifies as a "moderate liberal" in her Twitter bio. "This is a shameful state of affairs, and I don't see a plan in place to address it."

Social media users by and large agreed with her thread, blasting San Francisco leadership in particular.

FORMER DRUG DEALER SPEAKS OUT AGAINST SAN FRANCISCO DRUG SCENE: IT'S BECOMING A PLACE FOR ‘DRUGGY TOURISM’

In June, San Francisco voted to recall then-District Attorney Chesa Boudin, D. His critics said he implemented progressive policies like eliminating cash bail and was too soft on punishing drug crimes. Boudin's replacement, Brooke Jenkins, reversed many of those policies, but residents told Fox News they didn't feel safer.

A woman named Susan said she'd seen car break-ins and thefts from local drug stores and said that many homeless people commit crimes for money.

"We have to have the will to solve it and to solve the problem of homelessness," she said. "But I don't know if there's the will to solve it."

San Francisco Mayor London Breed, D., declared a state of emergency in the city's Tenderloin district in 2021 in response to drug overdose deaths. The city, she said, suffered 650 overdose deaths in 2021 and at least 700 in 2020.

Breed and Supervisor Hillary Ronen announced last week they planned to introduce a bill that would make way for the opening of "Overdose Prevention Sites" in the city, allowing individuals to use heavy drugs like heroin, methamphetamine and fentanyl in a safe and supervised environment where there would be access to wraparound services for addiction, according to NBC Bay Area. The measure would need to be enacted by the Board of Supervisors.

Former drug dealer–turned-activist Ricci Wynne recently spoke out against harm reduction policies and potential safe consumption sites in San Francisco on "Jesse Watters Primetime."

"[It's] going to make the problem worse," he said. "It's already created such a buzz that people are coming here to San Francisco in droves for what I like to call druggy tourism. They come here because they know the consequences are minuscule if any, and they can come here [and] just use openly."

Wynne advocated instead for abstinence-based programs.

"I fear that San Francisco is on the brink of vigilantism," Tandler tweeted. "When home values fall, people will follow their natural urge to protect their families and net worth. It is time for new solutions, or perhaps federal intervention. The anarcho-tyranny needs to come to an end."

Australian Open nearly ends in disaster for Stefanos Tsitsipas after narrowly missing ball kid during outburst

Stefanos Tsitsipas, the current world No. 4 ranked tennis pro, advanced to the semifinal round of the Australian Open on Tuesday after defeating Jiri Lehecka in their quarterfinal match, but the outcome of that match could have been very different because of an outburst Tsitsipas had in reaction to a missed ball.

In the third set and leading by two sets, Tsitsipas missed a return during a short back-and-forth on Lehecka’s serve.

Then, out of frustration, Tsitsipas hits the ball into the wall just as a ball kid passes by to retrieve the ball.

ANDY MURRAY EXPLODES AT AUSTRALIAN OPEN AFTER BATHROOM BREAK DENIED DURING MARATHON: ‘IT’S A JOKE’

"Tsitsipas just got really lucky," the broadcasters said of the outburst. "He swings in anger and it nearly hits the ball kid and if it does, he’s shaking hands a loser in this match."

ATP rules are strict about ball abuse during matches. In 2020, Novak Djokovic was famously disqualified from the U.S. Open after he hit a ball that hit a line judge. As a result, the chair umpire ruled he defaulted the match.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Tsitsipas said during a press conference after the round that he regrets hitting the ball in that manner, but from his point of view, the ball kid was not close enough to get hit.

"I saw the ball kid when the ball came back – you know, I’m a professional tennis player. I was not aiming for the ball kid, obviously. I saw the wall. It just went back towards the wall. The ball kid was, well in my eyes, pretty far away from me."

"I would have really had to miss to hit that ball kid."

He continued, "Of course, it’s not nice even to hit it back towards the wall. I personally don’t think I hit it too hard. But it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter. What I did, I’m definitely not happy about that and I shouldn’t have done it but it was part of the moment. My ball fell short – there was a little bit of frustration there but you know things happen."

Tsitsipas goes on to play Karen Khachanov of Russia in the semifinals on Thursday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu makes surprise visit to Jordan to meet with King Abdullah II

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a surprise trip to Jordan on Tuesday to meet with King Abdullah II for the first time in over four years, seeking to shore up ties that have strained since he took office at the helm of Israel's most right-wing government in history.

The rare meeting between the leaders, who have long had a rocky relationship, comes as tensions grow over Israel’s new ultranationalist government, which took office late last year. The talks centered around the status of a contested holy site in the Old City of Jerusalem sacred to both Jews and Muslims, an emotional issue at the heart of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, Jordan's official statement indicated.

Jordan's royal court said the king urged Israel to respect the status quo at the sacred compound, which Muslims call the Noble Sanctuary and Jews call the Temple Mount. The compound — the third-holiest site in Islam — sits on a sprawling plateau also home to the iconic golden Dome of the Rock.

ISRAEL, JORDAN SIGN DECLARATION OF INTENT AT UN CLIMATE CONFERENCE TO CONSERVE, PROTECT JORDAN RIVER

Under an arrangement that has prevailed for decades under Jordan's custodianship, Jews and non-Muslims are permitted visits during certain hours but may not pray there. But Jewish religious nationalists, including members of Israel's new governing coalition, have increasingly visited the site and demanded equal prayer rights for Jews there, infuriating the Palestinians and Muslims around the world.

In Tuesday's meeting, King Abdullah II also pushed Israel to "stop its acts of violence" that are undermining hopes for an eventual peaceful settlement to the decadeslong Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Jordanian government added, reaffirming its support for a two-state solution. Israel's new coalition has vowed to expand Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank and even annex the territory, making a future independent Palestinian state unviable.

Netanyahu’s office said he discussed "regional issues" and security and economic cooperation with Jordan, a key regional ally. Jordan’s 1994 treaty normalizing ties with Israel produced a chilly-at-best peace between the former enemies.

The Jordanian government has already summoned the Israeli ambassador to Amman twice in the last month since Israel's new government took office — both times after an incident at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. Netanyahu has repeatedly offered assurances that there has been no change in the status quo at the site.

ISRAEL URGES CITIZENS TO 'DOWNPLAY' THEIR ISRAELI IDENTITY AT QATAR WORLD CUP FOR THEIR OWN 'SECURITY'

Earlier this month, Israel’s new hard-line minister of national security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, made a provocative visit to the site, drawing condemnations from Jordan and across the Arab world. Jordan also protested to Israel after Israeli police briefly blocked the Jordanian ambassador from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque, decrying the move as an affront to Jordan's role as custodian.

The compound is administered by Jordanian religious authorities as part of an unofficial agreement after Israel captured east Jerusalem, along with the West Bank and Gaza, in the 1967 Mideast war. Israel is in charge of security at the site. Because of Jordan’s special role and the site’s importance to Muslims around the world, whatever happens at the site has regional implications.

The site emerged as a major flashpoint between Israel and the Muslim world in 2017, when Israel placed metal detectors, cameras and other security measures at entrances to the compound in response to a deadly Palestinian attack there. After days of some of the worst Israeli-Palestinian clashes in years, Jordan helped resolve the crisis.

Over the years, the neighbors have maintained a crucial security alliance, buttressing Jordan’s position as a partner of the West in one of the world’s most volatile regions.

Reddit users console 'frustrated' mom who leaves babies crying alone while she gets 'fresh air'

A young mom who shared her story of leaving her triplet babies inside the house crying by themselves while she stepped outside to get "some fresh air" has elicited more than 7,000 comments on Reddit and nearly 35,000 votes (either "upvotes" or "downvotes") from others on the site.

After an outpouring of support from the social media community, the mom dove back into her post to share further developments. She thanked others for helping her through a trying situation — which included a blow-up with her fiancé.

Fox News Digital reached out to experts for professional insight into the case – including a clinical psychologist in New York City – as well as to the poster for additional comment.

REDDIT USERS SIDE WITH FATHER OF THE BRIDE WHO WAS SNUBBED BY ‘BRIDEZILLA’ DAUGHTER WHEN HE DIDN'T EAT CAKE

Writing on the subreddit known as "Am I the a--hole," a woman who said she's 20 years old and a mom of triplets who are just 2 months old revealed that she "never expected" to become a mother of triplets in the first place.

"So when I first became pregnant, it was definitely the last thing in my mind," wrote the mom who goes by the user name "TripletsMom0."

She told others, "I'm home with my babies all day long and had to even transfer my education to online."

She said she has no family other than her fiancé and his family.

"Sometimes I just need some fresh air, especially when I can't get them to stop crying," she wrote about her infants and how she handles her challenge.

"I find myself getting super frustrated to the point of tears. It's honestly soo hard," she added, "and the dad isn't here to help, as he's either at work or at school."

Her fiancé is 24 years old, she wrote.

His parents "rented us a main floor apartment," she related.

"So when I step outside, I'm literally just sitting on the chair right beside the door, plus I have a baby monitor up in [the babies'] room, and it has a camera on it."

She said she "can literally see them and hear them, so if anything happened I'd be able to quickly get to them."

The young mom said that "being able to step outside for a few minutes to take a breather is really important to me because I start to have mini panic attacks when I can't get them to stop crying."

She said she gets "really frustrated" and feels "super overwhelmed."

That's why "being able to go outside just gives me a chance to calm down," she wrote to the community.

Here's what happened when her fiancé "came home to me sitting outside while the babies were crying," the young mother related.

"He freaked out on me, calling me a horrible mom and a bunch of other names that I'm not gonna list here," she wrote.

"He thinks that I was being super neglectful and putting the babies in harm's way" – and even told his family about the incident, she said.

ANNOYING PEOPLE SAY THESE 75 THINGS, ACCORDING TO REDDIT USERS

She added, "Now everyone seems to be really against me."

The young mother peeled back another layer of her personal background so that Reddit users had more context.

"I grew up in the system," she wrote, presumably referring to the foster care system.

"My fiancé's family is the only family I have and [have] ever known – so it breaks my heart," she wrote, "that they are so upset with me."

She added, "But I really don't think I was doing anything wrong or putting my babies in harm's way – but they seem to think otherwise."

The mother went on, "So here I am wondering if I should apologize for my actions or if I am the a--hole in this situation."

The young mother later came back onto the Reddit thread – and shared an update on her story with others.

"I decided to show my fiancé this thread," she wrote.

SOCIAL MEDIA THIEF ‘DIGITALLY KIDNAPPED’ HER KIDS, MOMMY BLOGGER SAYS — NOW SHE'S DONE SHOWING THEIR FACES

"At first he was really upset with me for sharing our personal problems with strangers on the internet, even though it's anonymous."

She went on to say, "But in the end, when he had a chance to calm down and hear me [out] – and all of you guys out – he actually apologized," the young mother wrote.

He "promised me," she added, that "he'd be more involved with parenting and even is willing to take parenting classes – which, I'll hold him to that."

She continued, "I just wanna thank everyone for the support that you all [have given] me. It brought tears to my eyes (happy tears) seeing how supportive you all were to a stranger on the internet. I don't think I ever received this much support before," she added.

REDDIT POSTER CRITICIZES SISTER-IN-LAW'S ‘RIDICULOUS’ BABY NAMES, ANGERING REST OF FAMILY

She finished with, "I can't believe how much attention this post" has gotten.

One sympathetic mom – who goes by the user name "Important Lawyer 350" – wrote to the 20-year-old mom, "When I had my baby, one of the things the nurses told me repetitively while in hospital and during the home visits is that if she is crying, and I know she has been fed, she has a clean [diaper] on, and she isn't sick, and I am getting stressed out – it's OK to go outside for a few minutes to just recollect myself."

This mom added that the "exact words [from the nurse] were, ‘A crying baby is an alive baby.’"

This same Reddit responder added, "They tell you this because it is better for a baby to be left to cry for a little while and the parents to get a breather than for parents to wig out and hurt their babies in frustration."

Another sympathetic Reddit responder wrote to the young mom, "Dad came home to three crying alive babies. You were with them all day and kept them fed and clean, and you had a monitor on them while just feet away from them."

This person added, "You are a tired, amazing, NTA ['not the a--hole] mom of these babies. Carry on, Mama."

Wrote a third Reddit responder, "Maybe Dad needs to stay home with the babies by himself for about 12 hours just to see what it's like… And see how long it takes for him to need a break."

Wrote yet another person, "Maybe there is a church or school program [that] would offer volunteers to come over and help out a few times a week to help give you some relief."

Many other Redditors shared support for the overwhelmed young mom.

This commenter summed up what others had to say: "I have twins, and compared to having one baby, you almost never got a break. There was always one baby that needed something. It's chiller now that they're older. But when they're still not sleeping through the night, it's so damn hard. Purely because it's constant."

This same commenter also said, "Honestly, my heart is breaking for this poor girl. I had my twins at 32 and my spouse is 100% in the trenches with me. And I still found having two newborns overwhelming."

REDDIT POSTER EXCLUDED CHILD FROM BIRTHDAY PARTY INVITE FOR BEING A ‘BULLY’

She added, "This woman deserves all the support, all the rest – and a medal."

Wrote another Redditor about the dad of the three baby triplets, "Respectfully, from one dad to another, he’s not doing enough. And yelling at you doesn’t help any situation."

This man added, "I’d advise you guys to have a sit-down conversation and for you to lay it all out for him. I get that it’s tiring to go and do a job all day. But he still gets ‘off’ time. You don’t."

The same writer also said, "A mother is never not on the clock, and he needs to realize that and step up at home. You are [not the a--hole] but your fiancé is in danger of being a massive one if he doesn’t get it together."

Yet another Reddit user posed a reaction that others also agreed with: "Do you have postpartum care? I'm sure that your doctors, nurses, etc. will provide info that parents of multiples need help."

MOM GIVES BIRTH TO IDENTICAL TWINS 3 DAYS APART IN TEXAS: ‘VERY UNCOMMON’

Added this person, "I hope [the] fiancé can come with you to your next checkup and please ask the health provider. They will not only support that you did the right thing, but that you need hands-on assistance and breaks."

Still another person wrote, "I'm concerned that none of them [the fiancé's family] seem to be helping, just criticizing. Three babies and one person is not OK."

Dr. Jayme Albin, a clinical psychologist in New York City, told Fox News Digital about the challenging case, "Obviously the mom didn’t do anything wrong by sitting [outside] with the baby monitor."

Yet "clearly," she added, "she and the fiancé have different ideas about what is safe."

So, they need to "discuss it so that both parents feel comfortable," she said.

Albin added, "It’s very hard to be a new mother, let alone a mother of three. And it’s extra hard when you have other family members chiming in with their judgments."

She said, "It’s probably best for the husband to tell his parents to stay out of it – and to stop feeding them information."

Albin also said, "She should definitely seek out the advice of a professional to see if she is suffering from postpartum depression – and perhaps look into gaining some emotional support, maybe enroll in a mommy support group."

Dr. Meg Meeker, a longtime pediatrician based in Minnesota and the author of numerous books on raising children, told Fox News Digital, "Parenting is the most emotionally intense experience any adult can have. Kids cry when they're hot, cold, hungry, have a messy diaper or even when they want the lights turned down."

REDDIT POSTER SAYS RECENT STRUGGLES PROMPTED DAD TO SAY ‘LOVE YOU’ MORE — IT ‘MEANS SO MUCH’

She added, "Hearing the constant cries of one baby produces anxiety — but hearing it from three is anguish. Add to that essentially parenting alone and [this] parent is a time bomb waiting to explode. Her blood pressure goes up, her cortisol levels rise, her mind becomes confused and of course, guilt comes in."

Dr. Meeker also noted, "No parent can answer every cry of their child. And they don't need to. As a pediatrician of 30 years, I tell mothers that the best thing they can do for their child when they (the mothers) are at their mental, physical and emotional limit is to step away from their babies into another room. Breathe deeply — calm themselves so that they can renew their sanity."

She also said, "Calm parents create calm kids. Parents ready to blow produce stressed babies. By stepping away at a safe distance from her babies, this mother was giving them the gift of a renewed sanity."

Said Dr. Meeker as well, "And as far as the boyfriend/‘fiancé’ who abusively yells at her when he has no idea what she's going through — personally, I'd throw him out on his ear and ask someone else to help."

The Mayo Clinic, based in Rochester, Minnesota, devotes a section of its website to caring for multiple infants.

It says of the challenging task of parenting multiple babies at once, "Healthy multiples have the same needs as other newborns. But you might need more rest and support than you imagined, especially if your babies are born prematurely or need special medical care after birth."

Adds the site to the parents of multiples, "You're also at higher risk of postpartum depression. If you experience any symptoms of postpartum depression, talk to your doctor."

It also urges parents to "take time to enjoy your babies – and ask friends, loved ones and others for help when you need it."

California police identify gunman in attack that killed 10 people, injured 10 others in mass shooting

California authorities have identified the suspect in Saturday's mass shooting that killed 10 people and injured 10 others at a ballroom during Lunar New Year celebrations.

Los Angeles Sheriff Robert Luna identified the suspect as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran.

The identification came hours after the suspect shot and killed himself in a white van in Torrance, about 30 minutes from the shooting location in Monterey Park. Authorities said it was the same van the suspect had used to flee Saturday night's shooting.

Law enforcement officials surrounded the van with tactical vehicles and bomb squad trucks earlier Sunday before entering the vehicle. Luna said several pieces of evidence – including a handgun – were found inside the van linking the suspect to the shooting scene.

Luna said no other suspects are at large and there was "no longer a threat" to the community. Authorities have not provided a motive saying the investigation is ongoing.

Seven people remain hospitalized, Luna said. He did not have the exact ages of the victims but said they all appeared to be over 50.

"I still have questions in my mind, which is: What was the motive for the shooter? Did he have a mental illness? Was he a domestic violence abuser? How did he get these guns and was it through legal means or not?" said Congresswoman Judy Chu, who spoke alongside Luna at Sunday evening's press conference outside Monterey Park City Hall.

Luna said the shooting at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park left five women and five men dead and wounded another 10 people. Then 20 to 30 minutes later, a man with a gun entered the Lai Lai Ballroom in nearby Alhambra.

The suspect entered the Alhambra club with a gun, and people wrested the weapon away from him before he fled, Luna said.

Monterey Park is a city of about 60,000 people on the eastern edge of Los Angeles and is composed mostly of Asian immigrants from China or first-generation Asian Americans. The shooting happened in the heart of its downtown area, where red lanterns decorated the streets for the Lunar New Year festivities. A police car was parked near a large banner that proclaimed "Happy Year of the Rabbit!"

The celebration in Monterey Park is one of California's largest. Two days of festivities, which have been attended by as many as 100,000 people in past years, were planned, but officials canceled Sunday's events following the shooting.

The shooting occurred at Star Ballroom Dance Studio, a few blocks from city hall on Monterey Park's main thoroughfare of Garvey Avenue, which is dotted with strip malls of small businesses whose signs are in both English and Chinese. Cantonese and Mandarin are both widely spoken, Chinese holidays are celebrated, and Chinese films are screened regularly in the city.

NFL referee has hot mic moment during Chiefs-Jaguars playoff game

NFL referee Shawn Hochuli was caught with his microphone still on during the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars AFC divisional-round game on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium.

In the second quarter of the game with the Chiefs leading 10-7, officials threw a penalty flag on Arden Key for roughing the passer. Hochuli must’ve turned his microphone on a bit too early and was heard expressing his frustration with the noise level.

"Everybody shut up," Hochuli was heard saying before the penalty was announced.

Hochuli’s touch of honesty sent fans into a frenzy on social media.

Hochuli, the son of retired official Ed Hochuli, began his career in the NFL in 2014. In 2018, he was promoted from back judge to referee.

He also served as an official in the Pac-12 Conference, the Arena Football League and Arena Football 2. In last year’s NFC divisional-round game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Los Angeles Rams, he gave Tom Brady an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

The noise level at Arrowhead Stadium was a point of contention before the playoff game between the Chiefs and Jaguars.

Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence said he couldn’t imagine the fans at Arrowhead Stadium being much louder than Jaguars fans during the team’s comeback win in the wild-card round.
