With Dems in House minority, Clyburn, Hoyer say party will 'look forward,' put politics aside

With Republicans set to control of the House of Representatives, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., and Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C., on Sunday said that Democrats in the chamber will "look forward" and focus on helping Americans despite spending much of the last two years looking back and politicizing the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.

Both Hoyer, D-Md., and Clyburn, D-S.C., appeared on MSNBC’s "The Sunday Show" and looked to the future, saying that as House Democrats look to regain the majority in the next election, they will focus passing legislation to help the American people and their families.

"Focus on the American people, their dreams, their aspirations," Clyburn said when asked about the challenges facing the new minority Democratic leadership. "This is what the Democratic program will do for you, will do for your families, what it will do for your communities. We are going to put people over politics." 

He suggested that Republicans will be focused on making headlines while Democrats will "seek headway," saying "I think that is what our secret to success is."

Hoyer said "we’ll see" when asked about finding common ground on legislation with Republicans, though he added that Democrats will "absolutely" work to pass bills that help Americans.

"It takes two to tango," Hoyer said, "and if you don’t have a tango partner it’s difficult to tango," Hoyer said.

Hoyer said that Democrats want to "look forward" and hopes that Republicans will do the same despite voicing interest in launching "multiple investigations."

However, the House Select Committee in the currently Democrat-controlled House has spent much of the last two years investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riots. The committee held several hearings televised in primetime – hiring a former ABC News executive to help produce them – and subpoenaed Trump last month.

Meanwhile, House Republicans alleged on Thursday that President Biden was actively involved in overseas business dealings alongside his son Hunter, promising to continue to update the press and public with findings.

Hoyer and Clyburn said that while they are taking a step back from leadership roles, they intend to continue service in the House of Representatives like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who announced last week that she will no longer serve as the Democrats’ leader.

"Timing is very important in politics and everything else," Hoyer said. 

Clyburn's sentiments were similar, simply saying that "it’s the right time" for a changing of the guard within the Democrats.

While a vote for a future leader has yet to take place, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., is believed to be next in line for the role of incoming minority leader.

It's the largest hot spring in the United States, and it discharges 560 gallons of water per minute. That water is 160 degrees Fahrenheit."

The special episode of "Park'd" will air on Fox News Channel at 10 PM ET on Sunday, and will be available for streaming on Fox Nation after it airs.

2022 AMAs: Taylor Swift nominated, Wayne Brady hosting, Carrie Underwood performing and what else to know

The American Music Awards are here. 

As one of the award shows completely decided by fan votes, the AMA Awards are sure to give viewers what they want and more. With a new host taking the stage, incredible performers lined up, record-breaking nominees and touching tributes, this year's show is sure to deliver. 

Here is what to know to about the 2022 AMA Awards. 

The AMAs will air on ABC Sunday at 8 p.m. ET and will be available to stream the following day on Hulu.

BAD BUNNY LEADS AMA 2022 NOMINATIONS WITH TAYLOR SWIFT, DRAKE AND BEYONCE CLOSE BEHIND

Comedian Wayne Brady, host of this year's show, is no stranger to that role having helmed popular game show "Let's Make a Deal" since 2009. He's also hosted his own variety talk show, "The Wayne Brady Show," for two seasons. 

Brady is also well known for his work on "Whose Line Is it Anyway?" an improvisational comedy series for which he won five Emmys. Here's hoping this year's show includes some great unscripted moments.

"I’m ecstatic and honored to host this year’s AMAs," Brady said in a statement after it was announced he would be hosting. "As a musician and music lover, it’s amazing to be part of a night where music fans make their voices heard. It’s a big show, so I’m bringing it all ... the funny, the music and the moves."

Bad Bunny is the leader in nominations with a total of eight nods. Bad Bunny is nominated for artist of the year, touring artist, music video, pop album for "Un Verano Sin Ti," male Latin artist and Latin song for "Me Porto Bonito."

Following Bad Bunny with six nominations are Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Drake, all of whom are nominated for artist of the year, alongside Adele, Harry Styles and The Weeknd. Coming in third are Imagine Dragons and Måneskin with five nominations each, making them the most nominated bands at this year's show.

TAYLOR SWIFT BREAKS SILENCE ON TICKETMASTER FIASCO

First-time nominees this year include Anitta, Latto, Tems and Jack Harlow, who are nominated for eight awards among them.

Swift already holds the title for the most nominated artist in AMA history and could beat her own record of most wins for artist of the year at Sunday's show. She is also nominated for music video for "All Too Well: The Short Film," female pop artist, pop album for "Red (Taylor's Version)" and female country artist.

This year's show has a stacked lineup of performers with both new and veteran musicians.

Fresh off her performance at the CMA Awards, Carrie Underwood will take the stage along with first-time nominees Anitta and Tems, who will be taking the AMA stage for the first time.

Other artists performing Sunday night include Imagine Dragons, J.I.D., Wizkid, Yola, GloRilla, Dove Cameron, Lil Baby and Bebe Rexha with David Guetta.

Also performing Sunday night is P!NK, who will be performing her newest single and a tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John, who died earlier this year after a battle with breast cancer. Throughout her career, Newton-John won 10 AMAs and is someone P!NK admired.

"I met her maybe three times- and she was an absolute angel," the pop star wrote on Instagram when news of Newton-John's death broke. This year's Icon Award will be presented to Lionel Richie. The award was introduced to the award show in 2013 and was created to honor artists who have had a profound impact on the music industry worldwide.

Richie first rose to fame in the 1970s as the lead singer of the Commodores, writing many hits for the band before launching his solo career in 1982 with his debut album and following that up with his second album a year later. His second album, "Can't Slow Down," reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and featured hits "Hello" and "All Night Long."

Throughout his career, Richie has won four Grammy Awards, an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award and has also been inducted into Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. Having sold over 100 million records globally, Richie is considered one of the world's top-selling artists of all time.

The singer's biggest hits include "Endless Love" with Diana Ross, "Stuck on You," "Say You, Say Me" and "Dancing on the Ceiling." 

Russia, Iran reach deal to make drones on Russian soil for Ukraine war: report

Moscow and Tehran have reached a deal to make drones on Russian soil to bolster its war effort in Ukraine following months of relentless bombings on civilian locations, a report by the Washington Post said Saturday.

Fox News could not immediately reach the Pentagon for comment, but according to the report, U.S. intelligence officials recently learned of the agreement which was reached by the two nations in early November.

The U.S. first revealed Iranian plans to "gift" Russia hundreds of Shahed-136 drones earlier this year and by August 1,000 Iranian-supplied drones were shipped off to Russia before being dropped over civilian targets in Ukraine.

The agreement apparently coincided with Russia’s defeat in Kherson earlier this month when it withdrew its forces from the capital city in its biggest military loss since retreating from Kharkiv in September.

It is unclear which drone design would be employed for production in Russia, but according to the report officials from both nations are working the transfer key components and plans to get the manufacturing up and running within three months. 

A reported 400 drones have been dropped over various targets in Ukraine, hitting civilian neighborhoods, villages, cities and the nation’s energy infrastructure. 

Russia has intensified its aerial attacks in recent months while its ground forces continue to see setbacks as Ukrainian forces push the front lines farther east. 

NATO SAYS RUSSIA 'ULTIMATELY RESPONSIBLE' FOR DEATHS IN POLAND THAT MAY HAVE BEEN FROM AIR DEFENSE MISSILE

Since Nov. 11, Russia had launched roughly 150 missiles and over 25 kamikaze drones against Ukraine, according to Ukrainian General Staff Deputy Chief Oleksii Hromov on Thursday.

Over 100 of the air strikes carried out in the six-day period were blocked by Ukraine’s air defenses. 

But Russia’s latest agreement with Tehran may not only increase its ability to produce more drones but may rapidly increase the amount of time it would take to refit its troops both in Ukraine and those in border regions in Russia and Belarus. 

Ukraine has pleaded with its Western allies since the beginning of the war to help it improve its air defenses – a request that has become ever more urgent given Russia’s heavy reliance on aerial attacks. 

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said this week that he, and the nearly 50 other allied nations that make up the Ukraine Contact Group, were looking to send Ukraine the "right mix" of air defenses and weaponry to stop Russia from gaining air superiority. 

The news that Moscow will increase its drone production also comes just three days after a Ukrainian air defense system crashed across NATO borders and killed two in Poland after Russia levied missiles at Western Ukraine.

Over 100 gender, sexuality options on application for San Francisco's guaranteed transgender income program

San Francisco's transgender guaranteed income program application provides over 130 gender, sexuality and pronoun options, and encouraging enrollees to "check all that apply." 

The "Guaranteed Income for Transgender People (G.I.F.T.)" program will provide 55 "economically marginalized transgender people," who have a monthly income of less than $600 with $1,200 per month for a year-and-a-half. Although, enrollees can make a maximum of $4,000 a month and still be enrolled in the program, according to the program’s website.

Pronoun options on the application include "Zie/zim/zis," "Fae/faer/faers" and "Tey/ter/ters." 

Under the gender identity category, applicants can choose from options like "Aggressive (AG)," which is an "identity label claimed by some African-American and Latin@ masculine of center lesbians," according to the University of Florida LGBTQ+ Affairs office.

"Genderf---" is another option in the gender identity category, which is "the idea of playing with ‘gender cues’ to purposely confuse stereotypical gender expressions, usually through clothing." according to the University of Connecticut Rainbow Center. Another option is "Two-spirit," which is an "identity label used within many American Indian and Canadian First Nations indigenous groups to describe an individual that possesses both 'masculine' and 'feminine' spirits." according to the University of Florida.

Other gender identity options included "Feminine-of-center," "Demigirl," "Boi," "Tomboy," "Khanith/Xanith" and "Ninauposkitzipxpe." 

TRANSGENDER FEMALE CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNER DOMINATING NEW COMPETITION AFTER STRUGGLING AGAINST BOYS

Applicants could also choose between sexual orientations like "BDSM/Kink," which is defined as a "sexual activity involving such practices as the use of physical restraints, the granting and relinquishing of control, and the infliction of pain," according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, as well as options like "pansexual" and "skoliosexual."

PRINCETON UNIVERSITY OFFERS CLASSES ON ‘BDSM,’ ‘FETISHISM AND DECOLONIZATION’

G.I.F.T. will prioritize certain groups, such as "transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and intersex people who are also Black, indigenous, or people of color (BIPOC), experiencing homelessness, living with disabilities and chronic illnesses, youth and elders, monolingual Spanish-speakers, and those who are legally vulnerable such as TGI people who are undocumented, engaging in survival sex trades, ​or are formerly incarcerated," according to its website. 

Lyon-Martin Community Health Services, a partner in the program, will also provide enrollees with "gender-affirming primary medical and holistic care, gynecological and sexual health care."

As Joe Biden's granddaughter is married today, here's a look back at other White House weddings

Naomi Biden, President Joe Biden's eldest grandchild, is to be married to fiancé Peter Neal on Saturday, Nov. 19, on the South Lawn of the White House.

The Biden-Neal wedding will be the 19th such occasion hosted at the White House, according to the Library of Congress — and the first wedding to be held at the site since 2013.

Naomi Biden is also the first presidential grandchild to wed at the White House. Her father is Hunter Biden.

Here's a look at some of the other weddings that have taken place at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue over the years.

The first documented wedding at the White House took place on March 29, 1812, according to the Library of Congress. 

The bride was Lucy Payne Washington, whose sister was first lady Dolley Madison; the groom was Supreme Court associate justice Thomas Todd.

It is unclear where exactly the wedding took place, but the Library of Congress website states it was "likely in the Blue Room" on the State Floor. 

At the time, weddings typically occurred in homes and were not large affairs, the website notes.

Lucy Payne Washington met Todd after she moved into the White House following the death of her first husband, George Steptoe Washington, from consumption. 

Dolley Madison described the wedding as "sudden" — and few other details are available. 

Only one president to date has been married at the White House: President Grover Cleveland. 

Cleveland was unmarried when he assumed the office of president, and began a courtship with Frances Folsom, a college student who was 27 years his junior. 

While the two became engaged to be married in August 1885, this was not public information until just five days before their wedding on June 2, 1886, the Library of Congress notes.

Vows were exchanged in the Blue Room — and only 28 guests attended.

Perhaps the most notable wedding to occur at the White House was the June 12, 1971, wedding of Tricia Nixon — a daughter of President Richard Nixon — and Edward Finch Cox. 

In a first, the two were married outdoors in the Rose Garden. 

The previous 15 weddings had all occurred indoors, said the Library of Congress. 

WEDDING CEREMONY DELAYED DUE TO A PAIR OF FIGHTING KANGAROOS: ‘RIGHT IN THE GUT’

A reported 400 guests attended the affair, and the White House later released a recipe for the wedding cake that was served in the East Room reception. 

Since this wedding, each subsequent White House wedding has occurred outdoors.

In 1994, then-first lady Hilary Clinton's brother Tony Rodham married the daughter of Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-California, in the Rose Garden.
