The risk we face when populations are more important than people

There is no perfect population number, writes Dr. Natalia Kanem, executive director of the United Nations Population Fund. However, talks on a population bust or a boom in the Covid-19 era have dominated the media discussion. "The real cause for alarm, though, is not the prospect of a baby boom or baby bust.
