Biden's pick for defense secretary will face first confirmation test before Inauguration Day

President-elect Joe Biden's pick for Defense Secretary, retired Gen. Lloyd Austin, will face his first test on the path to confirmation when he appears before the Senate Armed Services Committee later this month in a hearing that is scheduled to take place less than 24 hours before Biden's own inauguration.
