Bill Withers and Ellis Marsalis embody so much that we've lost

The coronavirus pandemic has struck an already seemingly relentless series of recent body blows to the music world, says Gene Seymour, who remembers two father figures of jazz in particular - Ellis Marsalis and Bucky Pizzarelli - and notes the pain of losing Bill Withers (to non-virus causes) when his music is becoming an anthem for the global will to find hope.
